Introduced Species
This species is native to Europe, but has been introduced in North America.
Females lay eggs individually on in loose soil. Haven't noticed that yet, but I'll be on the lookout for it.
The larvae eat roots and sometimes leaves at night. They can cause damage in crops such as cabbage.
